Sponsored Launch Winner Announced

The University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) is pleased to announce the winning startup of the UACI Sponsored Launch program fueled by R&A CPAs. Arizona based startup BioBolt Medical, will receive one sponsored year of admission into the UACI incubation program thanks to the generous financial support of R&A CPAs.

BioBolt Medical is enabling surgeons to pierce, manipulate, and fix meshes and tissues with speed and strength.

Sponsored Launch was created to provide more opportunities for startups to successfully launch into the marketplace, while also raising community awareness around the importance of providing support for entrepreneurs at the local level.

 

Paramium Technologies, "Taking Shape"

Paramium Technologies was highlighted in a recent article for the Arizona Tech Council's magazine, TechConnect! The article showcases Paramium and how the company is addressing the need for a better solution to connect Earth with space using advanced manufacturing methods based on University of Arizona research. The startup worked with Tech Launch Arizona to license their tech and are advancing their revolutionary business of compound curve reflectors right here at the University of Arizona Center for Innovation.

 

Guardian Devices LLC Selected for Solar Manufacturing Funding Program

UACI startup, Guardian Devices, LLC, has developed the Solar Guardian, a photovoltaic connector that prevents arcing faults and stops solar array fires. The business has been selected as one of nine projects hand-picked for the 2022 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) Solar Manufacturing Incubator to accelerate their innovative product and expand private investment in America's solar manufacturing sector.

 

Open Sponsored Launch Opportunity

Through a collaboration with the City of Sierra Vista and the Southeastern Arizona Chamber Foundation, UACI is offering a sponsored year at the incubator for three deserving startups with a committed team that is working to solve a significant business or social challenge in the science and technology industry. This prize package will also include office space at the Industrial Development Authority of the City in Sierra Vista. The total prize package is valued at $5,000 per company. Startups are encouraged to apply by June 23, 2023.

 

37th International Conference on Business Incubation

The International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) recently held the 37th International Conference on Business Incubation (ICBI37), in Detroit, Michigan. The summit brought together entrepreneur support professionals from across the globe to connect, explore new strategies, share best practices, learn about current trends and gather tools and resources. UACI team members spoke during peer-led sessions focusing on entrepreneurship ecosystems and innovative ways to engage corporations to support startups, sharing UACI experiences and gaining insights from others.

 

AZ Association for Economic Development Spring Conference

In collaboration, UACI Assistant Director, Casey Carrillo and Startup Tucson CEO, Liz Pocock co-presented on building an entrepreneurial ecosystem at the Arizona Association for Economic Development 2023 Spring Conference. The session was sponsored by Pima County and dove into accessing current ecosystem landscapes, components that contribute to startup success and how to build an entrepreneurial ecosystem with limited resources.

 

LabPair Finds Conference Success and Beta Testers

UACI startup, LabPair, addresses two major problems in research - the pressure to 'publish or perish' and the vast amounts of unpublished data and unused samples creating an efficient solution to the issue. LabPair is a web application that creates a two-sided marketplace where researchers who have unused resources are paired with the researchers in need. The startup released their beta program at the Society of Toxicology meeting in Nashville, Tennessee with great success and feedback! LabPair is actively recruiting beta testers. Emagine Solutions Technology Seeking App Reviews

Emagine Solutions Technology is looking for App reviewers! Emagine is tackling the U.S. maternal health crisis with FDA-cleared handheld ultrasound and remote patient monitoring for pregnancy care to improve outcomes. Their new and free app, The Journey Pregnancy Tracker, helps pregnant patients manage maternal health by supporting patients to advocate for themselves with information about prenatal healthcare.

Macula Vision Systems

Macula Vision Systems is defining a new standard in clinical microscopy through fully automated imaging and interpretation. The startup is developing a low-cost, solid-state, minimalist imaging instrument, leveraging the latest advancements in image sensor technology and high-performance embedded computational hardware. By utilizing numerical reconstruction and AI algorithms, it generates high-resolution digital images and automatically analyzes data to provide accurate results.
