CellMedics Inc. Wins Business Support through UACI in Collaboration with Oro Valley Organizations 

UACI is pleased to announce that CellMedics Inc., a company based in Las Vegas and expanding operations into Tucson, has been selected to receive business support from the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) for winning the UACI Sponsored Launch fueled by Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce and Town of Oro Valley competition. 

CellMedics' was selected from the pool of applicants for its drive to pursue an innovative solution that addresses a real-world challenge. CellMedics is developing patented therapeutic and pharmaceutical formulations to improve drug delivery efficacy through transdermal drug delivery cream. Drug delivery is targeted locally into site-specific tissues or systemically into the bloodstream. Patented cream formulations with enhanced bioavailability have been developed for skin conditions, arthritis & chronic pain and nail fungus. Partnering with UACI provides CellMedics with essential resources and expert guidance to advance its cutting-edge solutions, contributing to local economic growth and global healthcare progress. This milestone marks a significant achievement for CellMedics as it expands its footprint and influence into the community via the bioscience incubator UACI at Oro Valley.

Dimensional Energy Secures $20M Funding

Dimensional Energy, a leader in carbon utilization technology, has secured $20 million in Series A funding to accelerate sustainable aviation fuel production and advance global decarbonization efforts. The funding round, led by Envisioning Partners and including strategic backers like United Airlines and Microsoft, underscores growing support for innovative solutions to combat climate change. Dimensional Energy plans to utilize the funds to scale its groundbreaking power-to-liquid fuels plant and introduce new eco-friendly products, marking a significant stride towards a sustainable future.

Casey Carrillo, UACI's Director of Strategic Partnerships, recently spotlighted the transformative impact of IdeaFunding, Arizona's premier entrepreneurial conference, in a podcast during TENWEST. Clear Core's Energy-Saving AI

Clear Core, a UACI startup was featured on KVOA for its groundbreaking approach to energy consumption in data storage. They are developing AI technology that generates data locally, a unique solution that reduces reliance on energy-intensive storage solutions. This not only eases the strain on the electrical grid but also lowers costs. Buck Strasser founder of Clear Core emphasized the company’s commitment to self-sustaining energy solutions and their anticipation of advancements in nuclear fission to support their vision of efficient and resilient data management.

 

Startup Spotlight: REPARVI

REPARVI is a synthetic biology company focused on solving challenges related to the preservation, editing, and repair of cells. The company is developing its proprietary Cell Repair EngineeringTM technologies to mitigate the damage often associated with engineered cell therapies. These technologies are applicable across the entire cell engineering process, from cell storage and preservation to gene delivery.

 
U.S. Depart of Energy Prizes

The UA Center for Innovation (UACI) supports solar innovators as a Power Connector for the American-Made Network. The Department of Energy (DOE) Solar Energies Technology Offices (SETO) has announced four new funding opportunities.

Science Synthesis Prize - Generate new and comprehensive knowledge on the current state of science in renewable integration with the $125,000 Science Synthesis Prize

Open Voucher Call - Accelerating technology commercialization while connecting the public with U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory facilities.

Solar Prize Round 8 - The American-Made Solar Prize Round 8, offers more than $4.2 million in cash prizes and technical support vouchers.

Solar Energy Supply Chain Incubator - Provides up to $38 million for research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) projects that de-risk solar hardware, manufacturing processes, and software products across a wide range of solar technology areas.

Arizona Innovation Challenge

The Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC) brings new and exciting opportunities to Arizona entrepreneurs, granting 10 awardees up to $150,000. Each awardee will be enrolled in the Arizona Commerce Authority's premier mentor-led accelerator, Venture Ready Accelerator, as well as exposed to investors, business executives, successful startup CEOs, and media. Applications open on August 1 and close August 30.
