Leadership Promoted 

Tech Parks Arizona has recently announced significant promotions within the organization to strategically positioning the organization for ongoing growth and advancement. Casey Carrillo has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI). In this capacity, Carrillo will collaborate closely with Anita Bell to enrich UACI programs, ensuring the innovation ecosystem flourishes and further solidifies its role as Arizona’s premier incubator for tech startups. Simultaneously, Eric Smith assumes the role of Chief Innovation Officer (CIO). Smith’s focus will be on UACI's growth through expanded funding avenues and strategic corporate alliances, leveraging his extensive experience in fostering innovation to propel the organization’s mission forward. Patrick Murphy is appointed to Chief Operating Officer (COO) In this role, Murphy will oversee the operational aspects of the organization, ensuring efficiency and excellence in all initiatives.These leadership changes underscore Tech Parks Arizona’s steadfast dedication to nurturing innovation, supporting enterprises, and driving economic development across the region. With this enhanced leadership structure, Tech Parks Arizona anticipates sustained expansion and success in the future.  

 

 

 AADM Conference  

The University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI) recently participated in the 12th annual Arizona Advanced Defense Manufacturing (AADM) Conference hosted by the Arizona Tech Council in collaboration with Pima Community College. The event brought together over 225 industry leaders. They engaged in discussions about the latest trends, challenges and forecasts in aerospace, defense, aviation and manufacturing. UACI had the opportunity to network with regional experts and explore cutting-edge innovations within Arizona's growing aerospace ecosystem, which was truly exciting. 

 

Paramium Advances Technology 

Paramium Technologies, a UACI startup based on University of Arizona research and licensed through Tech Launch Arizona, has achieved remarkable success. Efforts from leadership have attracted exceptional talent and perfectly aligned with their strategic goals. The R&D team's adoption of Agile methodology accelerates their technology development, and they anticipate launching an MVP by the end of summer. Furthermore, they are poised to unveil a proprietary broadband antenna design by 2025, with installation in Q2 2025. 

 

UACI Client Reglagene Expands Board

Reglagene recently announced the appointment of Ben Maurey, a commercial-focused advisor, to their Advisory Board. He brings eight years of oncology experience, having led market strategy teams at Vaniam Group and Seagen, and continued his role after Seagen's acquisition by Pfizer. His expertise in market insights and early-stage asset strategy, along with his experience in clinical and medical affairs, will greatly benefit Reglagene's mission to develop innovative cancer therapies. UACI A

U.S. Department of Energy Prizes

The UA Center for Innovation (UACI) supports applicants as an American-Made Network Power Connector. Our team is currently supporting four new prizes and funding opportunities.

Science Synthesis Prize - Generate new and comprehensive knowledge on the current state of science in renewable integration with the $125,000 Science Synthesis Prize.

Open Voucher Call - Accelerating technology commercialization while connecting the public with U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratory facilities.

Solar Prize Round 8 - The American-Made Solar Prize Round 8, offers more than $4.2 million in cash prizes and technical support vouchers.

Solar Energy Supply Chain Incubator - Provides up to $38 million for research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) projects that de-risk solar hardware, manufacturing processes, and software products across a wide range of solar technology areas.

Camp Cleantech is a startups-only event designed for high-level climate-tech and cleantech entrepreneurs to get all the insights, and networking in one place. Delve into a series of workshops curated by the nation’s top incubators and accelerators, covering everything from community and corporate partnerships to financing and manufacturing, to pilots and value propositions. Beyond workshops, engage in fun community activities, from fly casting to cook-offs, embracing Colorado’s innovative spirit and active lifestyle. With plenty of interaction with instructors and collaboration with fellow attendees, Camp Cleantech is the perfect low-pressure event to take your startup to the next level. Hosted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Wells Fargo from August 12-14 at CSU Spur in Denver, Colorado.

The Bioindustry Organization of Southern Arizona (BIOSA) is holding its annual Monsoon Mixer which is open to the public. This is an excellent opportunity to socialize with BIOSA members and bioindustry professionals.
